Meditate while you drive

I regularly practice meditation while driving.

Are you still unable to believe it?

The practice of meditation is misunderstood.

To practice mindfulness, you do not need to be lying on the floor with your eyes closed in the full-lotus position.

You can do it while you're eating, taking a shower, waiting for the elevator, or even while you're driving or strolling.

This is what mean.

"The practice of establishing greater level of consciousness, awareness of thoughts, feelings, emotions, the breath, and surrounds" is one way to describe mindfulness.

So, here is how I put it all together and practice meditation while driving.

As I continue to drive, I will shift my attention from the breath to perhaps begin noticing the sounds and vibrations of the vehicle and the road.

simply listen. I simply accept the world as it is.

When my thoughts stray and I catch them, name them. Any label, such as "thinking," "arguing," or "obsessing," might be used.

I then guided my concentration back to the breath, noises, and vibration, which were what I was currently concentrating on.

The best part is, when I do this type of Mindfulness practice while driving, I am a lot more aware of everything around me - the road, the other cars, the signs and the lights. I am not “zoning out,” and I am sure I am a much safer driver.

So give it a try. Meditate while you drive. I promise you will arrive at your destination much more present and relaxed, and that alone is worth a lot!

From Sirohi, Rajasthan, to Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, it is a long 750 km drive.

From Phyang Gompa to Lamayuru Monetary and back in Ladakh, it is a long 210 km drive.

We drive into the future using only the rearview mirrors !
